This project included the renovation and expansion of an existing abandoned transfer station, converting the facility into a transfer station and materials recovery facility. The resulting facility received LEED certification for sustainable construction practices. Anchor Construction worked within a twelve-month schedule to design, permit, construct, and commission this facility.
The expanded facility includes significant two-story office spaces, equipment pads and foundation, equipment pits and walls, an environmental separation wall, a truck loading dock, an under-slab drainage system, an electrical system serving the equipment, and a bale storage area. The project was constructed over extremely expansive soils adjacent to historical dump sites, which required constant monitoring for waste during construction.
