7,600-sf Crossroads Rail Transfer Facility

Solid Waste

Morristown, IN

This unique 7,600-sf Crossroads Rail Transfer Facility was designed and built by Anchor Construction to receive solid waste from various cities and states. The building is 55 feet tall with a train rail running through it. It also features a material handling crane that unloads solid waste from the train cars. An odor control system that releases a mist is installed over the doors and along the ceiling.

The facility required coordination with a track design company from Pennsylvania, installers from Kansas, and a railroad tamping team from Canada. It has the first fully electric material handling crane made by Sennebogen in Germany to be installed in Indiana.
