47,000-sf Automated Storage and Retrieval System

Warehouse & Distribution

Edwardsville, KS

Anchor Construction was chosen to perform design and construction management services for an expansion of Fastenal’s existing warehouse space. Anchor designed and built an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) with an associated low bay sorting area, parking lot, and truck court. The building consists of a pre-engineered building, concrete tilt walls, and a rack-supported structure. Anchor coordinated closely with all the designers involved to ensure these building types would come together seamlessly.

A unique challenge faced on this project was a natural gas pipeline bisecting the site. Anchor developed a solution that uses a conventional steel-framed conveyor bridge spanning the pipeline and connecting the ASRS to the warehouse. Working closely with Fastenal, the pipeline company, and subcontractors, Anchor was able to add tremendous value to Fastenal’s campus, making it Fastenal’s largest distribution center west of the Mississippi River.
