This building expansion project included 43,000-sf of additional building area added to an existing facility on an operating site. The building expansion consisted of office, warehousing, and specialty production space. The specialty production spaces had to adhere to special cleanliness guidelines due to the type of product being produced in the new space. A new warehouse expansion with an expanded truck court was included in the project, allowing for more efficient shipping and receiving operations. The site work consisted of the excavation and removal of various old building foundations, abandoned utilities, a railroad, and unsuitable soils, as well as the relocation of existing electrical power lines.
Certain aspects of the building were specially designed to allow for the installation of equipment as it was delivered to the site, but still allowing the project to progress on schedule. Special consideration was also given to the hazardous nature of one of the proposed production methods, necessitating the design and installation of a blast-resistant wall. Anchor Construction coordinated the entire design-build project to meet key milestones required by the client, including an official groundbreaking ceremony with local elected officials, specialized equipment installation, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
