Anchor Construction completed a design-build project for Republic Services’ Recycling Learning Center in Seattle, WA. The facility, made from single-use shipping containers, recycled steel, concrete, and other sustainable finishes, contains interactive recycling exhibits and is the region’s first and only recycling education center.
The building was constructed from three 40-ft. shipping containers, two 20-ft. shipping containers, and a 480-square-foot courtyard comprised of metal building components. The build’s uniqueness is shown on the outside, being made primarily from shipping containers, and on the inside, having educational recycling exhibits. The Republic truck cab display, and miniature Material Recovery Facility (MRF), accompanied by several other interactive displays, make the facility one of a kind.
