Anchor Completes Construction on Seattle Recycling Learning Center

Anchor Construction, LLC recently completed a successful design-build project for the Republic Services’ Recycling Learning Center in Seattle, WA. Anchor is honored to have been a part of the infrastructure team that delivered this innovative facility, the region’s first and only recycling education center.

The Seattle Learning Center is designed to educate the community on recycling best practices. It offers visitors a fun and educational experience discovering how recycling technology works and the processes for separating different materials. The goal of the Learning Center is to increase the amount of recyclable materials collected by the community.

Republic Services’ vision for sustainability in action inspired sustainable construction methods, such as single-use shipping containers, recycled steel, concrete, and other sustainable finishes.

The building was constructed from three 40-ft. shipping containers, two 20-ft. shipping containers, and a 480-square-foot courtyard comprised of metal building components. The build’s uniqueness is shown on the outside, being made primarily from shipping containers, and on the inside, having educational recycling exhibits. The Republic truck cab display, and miniature Material Recovery Facility (MRF), accompanied by several other interactive displays, make the experience one of a kind.

Innovative projects like this are part of what makes Anchor unique; our portfolio boasts an impressive selection of construction projects across many industries, ranging from manufacturing corporate offices to more. Our team of architects, engineers, and construction managers approach every new project with integrity, honesty, and hard work, and we’re excited to have brought Republic’s vision to light.
